![]() The Sidekick is well worth its price tag!Ī good review would be remiss if I did not include any criticism of the product. ![]() The device and software are easy to use and offers a lot of built in features for troubleshooting wireless networks. Site Surveys will become much easier to perform and I can have full confidence in the accuracy of my surveys. I am very excited about having this device in my toolkit. It was a lot of fun watching the Real-Time FFT and Swept Spectrum charts for each radio band! Initial Thoughts: The Sidekick was able to scan all of the 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels with far greater speed than the USB NIC. Once we powered on the Sidekick and plugged it into our laptop, we were able to quickly assign the license key to the Sidekick and activate it. The support staff were very responsive and got our request taken care of within 5-10 minutes of opening the case. In order to use the Sidekick with our current licenses, we had to open a technical support case to release one of our license keys and then assign it the Sidekick. This provided us with some laughs but also some great information about the device. We took the time to read the quick start guide and the user guide. We first allowed the Sidekick to charge so that we had a fully charged battery. The initial setup was very easy and straight forward. It made reading the guide entertaining rather than the usual dull information that most would gloss over and throw out. There are comical pictures depicting what to do and what not to do with the Sidekick. ![]() When you start to read the User Guide, you will find some great material but also the fun side of Ekahau. The device is nicely packaged and ready to go. When you unbox the Ekahau Sidekick you will find the following: ![]()
